Will the
tattoo hurt?
Probably the
most asked
question amongst
those new to
tattoos.
The answer is
yes, but more
than likely it
won't be half as
bad as you are
expecting.
Pain is taken in
different ways,
one person might
find a certain
tattoo
completely well
while the next
person may find
the pain is
quite bad.
Remain as calm
as possible and
you will find
after a few
minutes you will
get used to the
pain and any
discomfort.
Pain also
various upon
where the tattoo
is placed.
For example, a
tattoo on top of
your arm, leg or
shoulder will
hurt a lot less
than a tattoo on
a wrist, neck or
foot. But
at the end of
the day all the
pain is bearable
pain.
Do I need do
prepare or do
anything before
my tattoo?
The best advice
we can give is
the following:
-
Sleep plenty the
night before.
-
Do not drink a
large amount of
alcohol on the
day of tattoo or
previous day.
-
Eat a full meal
a few hours
before your
appointment.
-
Build up your
sugar level by
something as
simple as a can
of Coke and a
bar of
chocolate.
-
Arrive for your
appointment a
little before
your set time
and relax.
During the
tattoo...
Simply relax and
remain as calm
as possible.
The most
important think
is to remain as
still as
possible to
ensure the
quality of the
finished tattoo
will be
outstanding.
If you need to
cough or move,
or would like a
break simply
tell your
tattooist.
If at any point
during your
tattoo you feel
unwell such as
dizzy/faint or
sick/nauseous
please tell the
tattooist
immediately.
He will take a
break until you
feel better to
carry on.
This tends to
only happen to
clients who have
not eaten on the
day of the
tattoo, so we
always recommend
you follow the
point above!
After the
tattoo...
After your
tattoo is
finished, the
tattooist will
clean it up and
bandage it for
you. It is
important you
leave the
bandage on for
the recommended
time as
specified in the
aftercare sheet.
Upon leaving the
studio you will
be issued a full
aftercare sheet
that goes into
detail in what
to do and what
not to do while
healing you
tattoo. A
copy of this
aftercare sheet
can be found
below.
Please always
follow this
advice and never
ever listen to
what your mates
have to say,
they are not
skilled nor are
they
professional and
the outcome of
the tattoo is
mainly down to
how well you
look after it.
Tattoo
Aftercare
cream...
We recommend you
use the THC
Tattoo Aftercare
cream. By
far the best and
most used cream
amongst clients
and tattoo
studios world
wide. We
stock it at the
shop and it is
available at £5
per tub, which
should last you
for several
tattoos
(depending on
the size of the
tattoo of
course!).
If you are
unsure about
anything or have
a question...
After your
tattoo is
finished and
while healing if
you have any
questions or are
unsure about
anything please
do not hesitate
to ask.
You may pop back
to the studio,
or ring us on

even
email us.
HOW TO CARE
FOR YOUR NEW
TATTOO
Once on your body
your tattoo is
your
responsibility!
Shortly after
you get your new
tattoo you will
notice your skin
will be a little
irritated and
sensitive,
similar to how
it feels when
you have spent a
few hours in the
sun.
PLEASE FOLLOW
PROCEDURES BELOW
FOR AFTERCARE
*
Remove the
bandage after
about 2-3 hours
(not before!)
*
Gently Wash your
tattoo with
antibacterial
soap and water.
*
Apply a light
coat of cream
such as the
recommended
Tattoo Aftercare
which is
available from
your tattooist
(for alternative
aftercare
options, please
enquire), this
will help the
tattoo heal and
also keep it
from scabbing up
much and
cracking. Always
wash your hands
first with
antibacterial
soap.
*
Continue to wash
and moisturise
3-4 times a day.
*
A slight scab
may develop DO
NOT PICK.
*
No skin to skin
contact with
people or pets,
if contact does
occur, wash the
tattoo
immediately.
* No
scratching, no
picking, no
peeling, no
swimming, no
sunbathing, no
sauna, no
Jacuzzi, no
bathing, no
tanning salon,
no contact
sports while the
tattoo is
healing.

REMEMBER
VIRUSES,
BACTERIA AND
OTHER GERMS CAN
EASILY BE PASSED
THROUGH AN OPEN
WOUND, SO BE
SURE TO TAKE
CARE OF IT!
You have to let
your tattoo heal
and settle into
the skin, also
make a point of
wearing baggy
clothes as tight
clothes restrict
healing. Your
tattoo should be
completely
healed in about
1-2 weeks.
Some tattoos can
be more
irritated than
others. For
example ankle,
inner arm and
joint tattoos
are prone to
more irritation
and/or swelling
due to a lot of
body movement.
In case of
infection it is
advisable you
visit your
doctor.
A FRESH TATTOO
IS A WOUND TREAT
WITH CARE AND
COMMON SENSE.
…and remember…
Advice from a
friend is
NOT
advice from a
professional
tattooist.
If in doubt,
